Economic Development in Cornelius and North Mecklenburg
North Mecklenburg
The Lake Norman Regional Economic Development Corporation was formed in 2003 to focus on economic development in the three North Mecklenburg towns of Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson. Together, the three towns have developed an Interlocal Agreement sharing both development costs as well as tax revenues. The first joint project was the North Mecklenburg Industrial Park.
Pictured above is Prairie Packaging of Bedford, Illinois. Prairie, maker of disposable dinnerware, is the anchor of the Industrial Park. It is expected that Prairie will bring approximately 240 new jobs to the area and invest $48 million over the next five years in the facility.
