Rezoning

Why Rezone?
Each zoning district is designed to accommodate specific types of developments.  If you have a piece of land whose zoning does not allow your intended development plans, you may consider applying for a rezoning.

How long will it take?
Rezoning property is approximately a 4 to 6 month process.  Approval is determined by the Town Board of Commissioners and cannot be determined by Planning Staff.

How much will it cost?
There are different fees for a rezoning petition and processing depending on how you would like to have the property rezoned.  View the
Fee Schedule for specific fees involved.

Who can initiate a rezoning?

  • Town Board
  • Planning Board
  • Owner  of interest in the property
